The intuition to bring to the South an academy capable of training the new figures in modeling and tailoring required by industry belongs to Domenico Lettieri, who started our story 50 years ago.
Today theIUAD Academy is accredited by the MUR among AFAM institutions to award Level I and Level II academic degrees in four departments: communication design, interior design, fashion design and cinema &adv.
We believe in learning through practical application, which is why our courses are mainly based on labs and workshops, to learn the profession from real problems and take care of the realization of a design product from idea to prototype production to promotion.
The Academy is in Naples and Milan. Both locations keep the teaching method and vocation for savoir faire intact, with three-year and advanced courses based mainly on the practical aspect of learning.

The council meets, on average, every 3 months, with special meetings requested by the director or class groups of specific courses. Following the meetings, the director reports to the BoD (when proposals require budget approvals) reports or to the Academic Council (when requests are related to the conduct of teaching), which approves or disapproves the requests. Our questionnaire is filled out by all students online compulsorily and anonymously as the first step in booking exams. The director, during consultations, and course coordinators, during specific meetings with classes, present and explain the importance of the survey in acquiring the satisfaction index, but more importantly, in solving any problems.
For the completion of the course of study, our curriculum includes an internship experience with companies in the industry.
The curricular internship is part of the active policies that IUAD implements for orientation, job placement and is mainly aimed at deepening and completing training through a “full immersion” experience in the world of work.
Once the contact has been established between the company and the student, we proceed to draft the documentation to accompany the internship. The latter consists of an agreement signed between the Academy (promoting party) and the company (host party), where the latter undertakes to host at its facility students enrolled in one of our three-year courses. The agreement will be accompanied by a Memorandum of Understanding and a Training Project in which the educational objectives to be achieved by the student during this study-work alternation course are determined and the company and educational tutors are designated. Each internship includes an obligation on the part of the Academy to notify Inail of the activation of the internship, the hours and times of access to company premises. At the same time, the student is given the attendance register, the forms for the development of the final report (student report and final evaluation of the company) and the document for the evaluation and recognition of educational credits, which the student will hand in at the end of the internship.
