First year teachings

Computer graphic I

The course aims to provide the tools and techniques for computer use with both Mac and Windows , learning the basics of the main software of digital image processing, vector graphics, design and editorial layout.

History of printing and publishing
Starting from the concept of "book", there will be analysedthe historical stages of the evolution of the book in its material aspects: analysis of the media (Papyrus, parchment, paper), the xylographic book and the different typefaces.Beginning with the invention of the printing technique until the lithography’s adoption, the students will learn the main character and significant events and places in the history of printing.

Graphics and material technology
The course is aimed at the technical learning of tools and materials used in the graphics lab. There will be studied topics related to tools, equipment and materials used in the different work stages and their preparations.

Techniques and technology of digital printing
The course aims to provide the skills needed to correctly realize files for printing, both for direct output on digital printers such as laser and inkjet, and for output on streams of offset printing, rotogravure, flexography, in order to avoid the most common errors students might encounter during the printing phase.

Graphic design 1
The course aims to provide the basic methodological tools that can be used during the graphic design projectation in its widest sense of the term. The lessons will offer indispensable tools for creating quality graphics products, and food for thought to help forming a design mindset in the area of visual communication.

Elements of editorial graphics
This teaching aims to transfer to the students an appropriate knowledge of the main elements of the composition of editorial Graphics. The learners will go through the analysis of different types of publishing market to provide the basics needed for a correct workflow between the designer and the industrial production.

The course aim is to let the students acquire the essential knowledge, mastery and competence in the execution of the design in its various aspects.
Fundamentals of cultural marketing
The program focuses on the study of programming, promotion and management of cultural and artistic activities, as well as on the study of the strategies related to the art market and communication.

Second year teachings

Computer graphic 2
Starting from the digital applications for the Visual Arts, this second year course aims to provide the necessary knowledge on drawing tools through graphics software, from graphics styles to transparency effects, from 3D effects to files preparation for printing.

History of contemporary art
The course addresses the transformations in the international artistic field from 1950 forward identifying critical and aesthetic ties through the analysis of relevant works and t texts.

Graphic design 2
Delving into the topics covered during the course of graphic design I, the course involves the study and layout realization from branding brief, logotypes, coordinated images, flyers, brochures and presentation techniques of the proposals developed.

The teaching tends to provide an organized series of notions about the history, theories, techniques and technology of photography. These notions are verified through a systematic experimentation tending to grasp the interconnections between theories, design assumptions and practices.

Advertising communication I
The realization of an advertising campaign implies inventive and creative sensibility as well, precise compositional rules and polygraphic, mechanisms and strategies which place the product itself as main protagonist, but also the soul of the buyer company and the study of the target audience.

Design methods of visual communication
The course aims to develop conceptual, analytical, synthetics and practical instruments, for a correct approach to planning, design and realization of Visual communication: from the initial briefing to the final output; from the first approach to the assignment to the presentation and delivery of the drawing.

Brand design
The course aims to address the main aspects related to the process of creating and managing the students’ personal and professional image as well as that of a corporate branding.

Web design 1
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the standards for building web interfaces. Through testing phases and using a Visual authoring environment for developing web sites there will be addressed current construction standards according to issues such as accessibility and usability of information.

Net marketing
This teaching aims to provide a deep understanding of Social Media marketing, Web 2.0 publishing, user generated content, online relationship management with customers, blog publishing and social applications.
Sociology of communications
Aim of the course is the acquisition of basic and advanced knowledge about the world of mass communication, the theories of mass culture, the theories on the effects of the media and those on the processes of formation of public opinion.

Third year teachings

Computer graphic 3 (rendering 3d)
As part of the process of Graphics generating , Rendering is the last major stage and provides the final appearance to the model and animation. During the course there will be designed and implemented major modeling techniques.

Graphic design 3
The course is an introduction to the fascinating field of digital animation, there will be developed animation projects with virtual cameras. Topics concerns the tools and software required for the professional standard for motion graphics, compositing and Visual effects for video and animation of text and graphics.

Advertising communication 2
There will be deepen the topics already dealt during the second year. The course is aimed at the acquisition of the most advanced skills and tools for an effective communication.

The copywriter is the person who is called to interpret, through the written word, the strategies, the will and actions of the customer. He elaborates the concept by creating the headline, the tagline and the bodycopy. Aim of the course is the acquisition of the techniques of creative writing and divergent thinking needed to develop a good promotional text.

Packaging is an integral part of everyday life: there is no product that can exist without it , from mere container, packaging has become the object of consumer’s desire. During the course it will be deepened the birth, the history, and the evolution of the concept of packaging.

History of illustration and advertising
The course will focus on communicative and semantic valence of visual storytelling offered by languages of illustration and advertising, rebuilting briefly its history and highlighting how much the search for new forms of expression and the exactitude can affect communicative effectiveness of a text.

Web design 2
The techniques already learned in the second year will be deepen. At the end of the course the student will be able to design and build a website in its basic form.

Theories and methods of mass media
The contents of the course involve reconstruction, analysis, methods of production and distribution of mass communication; characters and main types of media (television, film, publishing) and the strategic behaviour of enterprises that operate in different multimedia fields.

Electives have total value of 10 credits corresponding at least 2 teachings provided by the Accademiadellamoda, or to external or internal activities whose credits will be recognized by the Academic Council. To allow a balanced distribution of the students, electives are closed classes.

Extra teachings
Extra teachings are activities (for a total of 4credits) whose aim is to make the students acquire language and computer skills or relational and telematics ones useful to the inclusion in the job market, as well as activities to facilitate professional choices, through the direct knowledge of the business sector of the course , including, in particular, internships and orientation courses. The internships consist of a period of professional practice and experimentation, through the implementation of individual or group projects in collaboration with other institutes or companies. The duration of the internship is proportionate to the needs of a particular topic covered by a teaching or to the final purposes of the course of studies.

Final exam
To be admitted to the final exam, the student must have earned 180 credits during the three-year curriculum, including those relating to the final test, English language and computer science . The final test, who has a value of 8 credits, is an artistic theses project, which involves the production of papers or projects and a short essay on a topic specifically assigned by a teacher of the discipline where the student is enrolled.
